I asked for Derrick’s assistance in resolving a particularly difficult negotiation. Derrick strategically guided me, coached me, supported me, scolded me and cheered me on to see my negotiation situation from a totally different point of view. He taught me, in several in-depth telephone conversations the core essence of negotiation skills and seeing from a different point of view. I feel that my exposure to Derrick and his skilled consulting has irreparably changed my way of looking at one on one business interactions.

I learned and relearned the value of stepping outside of the whole scenario and look down at the situation, as well as really caring for my fellow negotiator.

Derrick aptly guided me to understanding the value of preparing and understanding my counterparts’ key objectives in the negotiation process. As I worked with Derrick, he offered strategic perspective on the next steps. Initially, I did not know what to expect as the results of each action recommended. As we proceeded through the process, Derrick’s recommendations led to opening more doors and engaging in further dialogue that eventually led to a greater outcome on my behalf.

Our phone conversations were mini-intensives, in which Derrick expertly sized up the situation, talked from each perspective, made some very accurate estimations about each individual’s balance card of possible outcomes and framed the possible outcomes.Without Derrick’s assistance and support, I could not have had the results that were manifested.

I don’t know how Derrick can articulate the situation so succinctly, but he does. His conceptual mind captures the essence of each possible piece and his expertise is right on in recommending the steps.

Derrick is a master in his field—with an understanding that humbles me into tacit listening. I took profuse notes each time I talked with Derrick, re-reading them many times to make sure that my next action included his precise recommendations.

Derrick,

I was just thinking of you on my drive to work today. I would love to catch up!

They started construction on the new facility last week. Thanks to you, I am getting $1.2 million from the landlord and another $800k from my lender. Luckily, the build-out will be right at $2 million. I am sooooooo thankful to you Derrick for helping me get that extra $200k, and of course, the $1.2 million in t/I money!

I've been burning the candle on both ends...getting home at 12 midnight and back at it around 6am for the last month.
